The now rather badly named xAP Floorplan is a full
control/display/script/timer application which may be able to fulfil
this role. It started life as a floorplan display but has since expanded
far beyond that. It may be worth a look(mi4.biz).
- Yahoo IM control
This sounds great. KevinH added a skype connector to the xAPTel
applicaion and I'm looking at a jabber client at the mo so Yahoo helps
finish the set. xAP Switchboard the caller logging app also has support
for monitoring presence information from IM clients. It uses the
messenger.info/event schema info from here :

so if your yahoo app uses this then many users would already have
support for it.
Now this just covers presence info and it'll need a schema for
receiving and sending messages but it's a start!
One final thing that you may not have seen is that the xAP yahoo groups
are split in two. This list the xAP_Auto one is suited for end users,
questions, ideas, suggestions and the other xAP_Dev for the developer
discussions.
