  • Subject: xAPTel beta 3 released

Hi all,

As promised (and just in time) I have just posted beta 3 of xAPTel
on James' site in the UKUSA downloads section.

http://www.mi4.biz

This is almost a complete re-write of xAPTel to support multiline
operation.

Major changes are

Dual serial ports supported for two PSTN lines. (Meteor , Pegasus,
modem) This can now be increased quite easily if people have a need.
Skype support for 16 concurrent voice calls (arbitrary limit)
Skype IN and Skype OUT supported and PSTN calls can be cross routed
between Skype and PSTN when dialled back.
Dialler support - an 'AT' compatible device can dial calls by xAP. eg
an old modem can be utilised on the same line as a Meteor
Line control via xAP and realtime status reporting of line status and
Skype contacts (who's online etc) using .event and .info schema
Skype contacts profile accessible via xAP
xAP sub addressing implemented for each individual line and each Skype
contact
Full bi-directional integration with xAP Switchboard for line handling,
call origination and Skype call logs and contacts.
Many new call progress schema messages * and a new Messenger and CTI
schema started
* these will change in the release version as I move them out from
the CID.Meteor schema
(also CID modem support is still needs a bit of sorting so expect an
update shortly)

Although xAPTel offers an on screen popup for call details and tray
balloons it is very much moving towards being a telephony events engine
that will usually be paired with a display application like xAP Desktop
or even more powerfully xAP Switchboard which provides both display ,
logging and STD/callerID lookup presented via a web interface . Calls
can also be announced via text to speech or displayed on any xAP capable
display eg a Squeezebox or even now Windows Media Centre 2005. The
support for sub addressing now allows line status and CID detail plus
Skype contacts to be easily setup as individual devices in HomeSeer
using the xAP HomeSeer plugin.

Any bugs or feature requests then either post here or log them on the
bug tracker at www.mi4.biz

Kevin

PS Existing users can run the installer again Please reconfigure xAPTel
as there are many more options and then 'save'. If you're running Skype
always quit and restart xAPTel after enabling the Skype integration for
the first time. There's a "read me" with full instructions in the
download zip. Please do !
