Weaher info is sent periodically (as setup in your weather.ini file) -
typically 10 mins apart - you can try installing "more weather"
too now.
or maybe xAP TV which is really useful

Now this is going to be far more complex Jonathan (and one for later
perhaps as you learn the ropes) - I dont use a Rio at the moment so I
cant help much. Certainly there is no inbuilt Display for the Rio
included in xAP Desktop. However modifying the SliMP3 one may be a
route. What you need is to get xAP or xPL controlling the Rio and
working well - if you get that far I can show you in outline how to do
the rest. I have no experience of either xAP or xPL control of the Rio
but that is a required first step for you. I think you intend the xPL
route for this. I do have a Rio (somewhere) and I was waiting for this
weekends release of xPL RioNet to try it all out as my main interest was
in the Hauppauge MVP support rather than Rio. If I get that working I
>might< well then create a display for xAP Desktop and a bridge
script
for xPL HAL. I'll keep you posted.

However you could also go the xAP route for Rio control but I have
never tried it - is it one of Patricks apps guys ?? Anyone here use it
already ? I think Mark H uses Rios don't you Mark ??

Are you a programmer Jonathan - can you handle VB script ? If so take a
look at James' notes on xAP desktop on his site and take apart an
existing Desktop display - say 'weather' or teh more complex 'more
weather' or really ambitious the 'news' display to see how it works -
the basic operation is scripted by a settings.txt file located in each
respective display subdirectory. What I woudl actually recommend is
loading a few xAP applications like News, weather,TV, Caller ID, X10 ??
if you have it and playing with xAP desktop for a while to gain
familiarity. I have some desktop sliders for lighting control with X10 I
have been meaning to post for weeks now if you do use X10.
