Another Desktop Display

  • Subject: Another Desktop Display

I have sent another Desktop display based of a picture of a
Thermostat to James and it is now in the list of available displays
from the Web. There is also a screen dump of it available in the
files area

Here is the readme for this display:
......
Thermostat/Controller For xAP Display

v1.0 30th Oct 2004 Kevin Turner

This display emulates a wall mounted Thermostat/Heating controller.

The original background picture was uploaded to the Trial Homeseer
BB by (cant tell at the moment as the board is down)

The display features

1) A 5 x 30 "LCD" display which responds to broadcast
Message.display schema messages

2) 4 Toggle buttons which can be used to change the state of BSC
v1.3 devices, eg on Homeseer

3) 4 matching Green bar "LED"'s to go with the toggle buttons,
which
provide feed back from the source that a change has taken place

4) 4 red "LED"'s which can be used to reflect the state of
another 4
BSC v1.3 devices. As delivered these are simply connected to the
same source as the green LED's

5) A pair of raise or lower buttons which will change a dimmable
device in 10% increments

6) A vertical bargraph which reflects the state of the dimmable
device. The value is also represented numerically

7) A display close button

The buttons "depress" when pushed.

This display was not set up for any particular home automation
function, but was primarily a means to learn, decipher, and
understand the current capabilty of the xAP desktop displays. As
such it uses events and simple scripts and BSC v1.3.

When you first load the display you will have to enter the xAP
source name for each device. A good place to get this is from the
xAP viewer App. The first 4 devices are digital state, ie on/off
devices and the fifth is a level device.

The defaults offered are by way of example and represent the devices
I have used for testing. You may find it useful to change the
defaults to suit your system, and you will find them in display.ini

I am sure there is more I could do, turning the bargraph into an
variable input for instance. but there are just too many good things
to do!

Feel free to modify this as you see fit for your application. If you
find any mistakes or do any clever stuff, please share.

.....
I hve also sent James updated versions of the earlier LCD and VFD
displays and hopefully they will also appear soon

Enjoy
Kevin
