  • Subject: xAP Watcher v1 released.
  • From: James Traynor
  • Date: Sat, 08 May 2004 01:09:00 +0000

After sitting as a stable beta for quite a while, version 1 final is here.

New features since last beta
----------------------------
Added option to make watcher send a xAP whenever the active window
changes. Can now be used as a basic activity monitor to keep an eye on
PC usage with logging done by xaplogger from
<a href="http://www.ascentium.co.uk/xap.";>http://www.ascentium.co.uk/xap.</a>
(This is off by default)
Added option to hide tray icon.
Made UID permanent and not change on each execution.
Fixed error when service was uninstalled.

What is Watcher
---------------
Watcher keeps an eye on your PC.
It outputs over xAP CPU and memory usage, free disk space, current
username, current window title, whether PC is being used or not, all
active programs with PID.
You can set triggers on memory, drive space and cpu usage so that an
alert is sent if the go above a limit.
Shutdown, reboot or lock a PC from xAP
Acts as a simple display client. It can display display messages, news
alert, caller id. It can also receive slimp3 formatted messages.
Runs as a tray icon or NT service.
All triggers can be set over xAP
New reading can be requested from xAP
A Watcher viewer is also available, which shows all watchers on a
network and lets you configure them remotely.
