Whole House Audio and amplification

Folks,

I have a number of xAP-enabled MP3 receivers, some of which need local
amplification. Does anybody have any suggestions on a range of more
compact amplifiers than the standard ones you'd fit in your HiFi rack?

I'm using full-sized Denon stereo amps at the moment and this isn't
ideal. The MP3 receiver is local to the amp/speakers. Ideally I'd like
something as compact as is reasonable. Given that it's amplifying the
output generated from MP3s almost entirely, it doesn't really need to
be super-hi-fidelity.
