Now that it's all working and has some valid data I'm getting the Now
and Next playing messages once a minute. Whoa, that produces a lot of
xAP data!

Tonight I've changed the way the xAP message rate meter in Hub and
Viewer updates (after hoisting common code into the xAPUI xFx DLL) and
it blooms when xAP TV shudders the network, then relaxes a little in
the following minute.

I daresay you've got a stack of ideas in this department already.
Here's a few I'd like to see:

1. Next.Playing frequency reduced to intervals of 1hour, 30mins,
15mins, 5mins, 1min before the programme starts.

2. Now.Playing frequency changed to something configurable perhaps?
10minute intervals by default? Or maybe a sliding scale, 1min
intervals for the first few minutes, in case I miss the start, then
slowing down to 2 or 3 min intervals until 10mins into the programme,
then once every half an hour perhaps.

3. Notifications of new shows that are just starting their run. I'd
like these to come out daily if it's possible to get this info. I've
utterly no idea if this is even feasible, sorry! So I get daily
reminders about the next series of Friends or ER perhaps until it
actually starts the first episode. After that I'd probably not want
these notifications.

There's probably quite a lot of things that could be done similar to
(3) depending on the quality of the information feed.
