advanced youcan combine them together into a single entity though, so don't
worryabout all the windows running!1. Make sure you've got the Microsoft
.net Framework installed firstof all! Links all over the place on my home
page I t
hink.2. Now&nbsp; you need the SliMP3 Connector application.<<A

choose the Console version for now, and later install the WindowsService
when you're happy it's all working.This application is what links, or
connects if you like, certain typesof xAP message on the LAN to your Slims.
The xAP messages can do allsorts of things but they need to get to the Slim
first.3. Once you've unpacked it, edit the SliMP3Connector.exe.config
filein Wordpad. Scroll down to the bottom and read the section
entitled:<!-- Application parameters -->You just need to ad
just one parameter here I suspect:<add
key="SliMP3Server"&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
value="Server" />Change value=Server to the name of the
machine on your network whereyou installed the SliMP3 Server s/w.You may
need to alter the CLI (Command Line Interface port number too,but the
default should work in all cases nowadays:<add
key="SliMP3ServerPort"&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
value="9090" />Just ignore the other parameters for now,
they're for when you want tocustomise the xAP environment more to your
liking.4. Now fire up the connector. And its startup screen should tell
youthat it found the Slim server and that you have 'x' players, and
whattheir names are etc.5. Finally you want to test that it's working okay.
You'll find anenormo
us pile of sample xAP messages in the "SampleMessages" folder.The
easiest way to send these is to use the "Send xAP Messages
fromfiles" application from further down this page:<<A
href="http://www.xapframework.net/modules.php?name=Downloads&amp;d_op=viewdownload&amp;cid=4";>http://www.xapframework.net/modules.php?name=Downloads&amp;d_op=viewdownload&amp;cid=4</A>>Just
install that and it'll associate .xAP files with itself.6. Then go back to
SampleMessages and 2x click the file named"OSD.Display-email.xap"
(which should now have a pretty little xAPicon on it.As if by magic you'll
find a message being displayed on your SliMP3.That's the end of Part 1.
Shout at me when all this works and I'llwrite you up Part 2.>(N
o comment on the lack of 'How to...' Stuart ;o) )d8-pS-- Stuart Booth
