When the kids were younger, I had a router with 4 SSID's and each one
could have a timer associated with it so we had a single SSID for us and
gave the kids their own with their own access times based on their age
and day of week.

These days I just have the 1 and make more use of the cat5 I put in the
house about 15 years ago.

As the speeds have increased more channels overlap so you're actually
using the same RF space so there's no real benefit to multiple SSID's
unless you want to use these as a mechanism to direct traffic to
different subnets and partition the network that way. If you have a lot
of guests, then perhaps splitting them off from the main network may be
worthwhile.
