I&#39;m lucky enough to have 2
houses:<div><br></div><div>My selfbuild home in
Ireland has CBUS and Comfort, and my London home has
ST.</div><div><br></div><div>Have to admit
these are two very different
experiences:</div><div><br>My ST set up uses Fibaro micro
modules, hacked SONOFF and also links to Hive and Echo.&nbsp; However
it needs the Cloud to do even the basic things, which just wouldn&#39;t
work in my flaky 4G connected holiday home.&nbsp;&nbsp;<span
style="word-spacing:normal;">One example of the difficulty is
that it is not possible to automate a fan to turn off on a timer with ST
without some cloud hops via IFTTT etc.&nbsp; That just seems basic
missing functions to me.</span></div><div><span
style="word-spacing:normal;"><br></span></div><div><span
style="word-spacing:normal;">It certainly isn&#39;t robust
an
d needs a a lot of checking to see what is (or rather isn&#39;t)
working.&nbsp; Thankfully there is&nbsp;</span><span
style="word-spacing:normal;">good logging and s
tatus checking in the online
console.</span></div><div>This was all put in to replace
an old X10 based system which allows it to&nbsp;<span
style="word-spacing:normal;">just about meet the WAF, but
mainly due to being better than
before.&nbsp;</span></div><div><span
style="word-spacing:normal;">Integration with Hive (soon to be
replaced with Wiser) and Logitech Hub are hardly used and these systems
work well standalone with Echo, and ST adds very
little.</span></div><div><span
style="word-spacing:normal;"><br></span></div><div><span
style="word-spacing:normal;">Note there is an Amazon project
to develop a skill for Echo to control Squeezebox, but this seems to have
stalled and only has basic functionality at
present.</span></div><div><span

e="word-spacing:normal;">Having CBUS and Comfort in a separate
environment gives quite a contrast - it just does everything so
well!&nbsp; I miss the Echo to control lights - (so</span><

route Paul describes, but it seems such a faff!), but Comfort even makes
X10 work.&nbsp; I&#39;m not sure I&#39;d add ST to this system
(even if I had the broadband), as I think the extra gimicky functionality
would come at a massive reduction to reliability and
WAF.</span></div><div><span
