Re: FTTP - Draytek Vigor - or Something Else?
I found it extremely simple to get up and running with a basic NAT
gateway - it is always nice to have something that works easily and then
iterate on it.
Because it runs on normal x86 hardware you can also test it out on an
old PC or even run it in VirtualBox before buying hardware. And running
on x86 hardware means there are always other options.
o Router & Firewall handle up to 300 Mbps
I was getting around 800 Mbps from my LAN to DMZ.
And I am able to get the full 200 Mbps out of my Virgin Media
connection.
o Built in VPN
I haven't used it but it supports several different VPN protocols and
hardware acceleration.
o Bandwidth control per IP
I haven't used it but it does have Traffic Shaping support.
o Lots of port forwarding
Yup, there is port-forwarding built into the firewall.
o No command line interfaces (life is too short)
The Web GUI is the default way of configuring it.
It is well designed and reasonably intuitive.
Enough of the sales pitch... I personally would rather be using
something with a text based configuration - keep meaning to give VyOS a
go.
