Hello
Chap(s/esses)

Been
a while! Nice to see some familiar faces kicking around the
archives!

So
I'm in the throws of rewiring a renovation project, and would like
to stick some HA in whilst I'm at it. I'm currently
thinking Qubino dimmer and relay modules for lighting automation &
temperature sensing, paired with a samsung smarthing hub (for WAF), and
Alexa dots dotted around. What happens if smartthings loses it's
internet connection - this is something that I anticipate happening from
time to time? Will the qubino temperature sensing be realistic behind the
wallplate, or would I be better off using homebrew (ESP8266 wi-fi or 1-wire
cat-5 based) sensors
instead?

Heating
will be all-electric, radi
ally wired to solid state relays. I'll need to tie those to the
temperature sensors somehow. I've not had great experiences with
the longevity/
reliability of raspberry pi SD cards, so I'm thinking that
I'll go with a beaglebone black instead, coupled with an aeon
z-stick or interfaced to the smarthing hub via IP if that's
possible?

All this
stuff is new to me, do I stand a reasonable chance of getting it to play
nicely together? Are there other options I should be considering or any
gotchas?

Grateful for all
input!

Cheers,

Patrick
