Re: Comfort alarm system without phone line

Hi Campbell,

I am also in a Virgin area where they are installing FTTP to people's
houses.
I have had a green micro-duct, to the edge of my property, for months
now but no sign of them lighting it up.

I found this recently:
http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2017/01/virgin-media-begins-deployment-voip-phone-alongside-broadband.html

So it looks like they will offer a phone service, with a socket in the
back of the router, but not a 'physical copper pair'.

I don't know enough about Comfort to say if it would work over a VOIP
phone line?

Also interesting to see that it looks like Virgin will be using Radio
Frequency over Glass (RFoG) - converting straight back to coax on the
way into the house. I guess it was optimistic to think that it would be
raw Ethernet.

nick.
