RE: Water flow sensor

Good thought and hadn't considered that way around, but this is all
outdoors
so anything like that would be prone to being triggered in wet weather.

Jim, if the output pipe becomes detached, presumably you would then have
water spilling about somewhere you don't want it. - could you not sense
that? - a simple water leak sensor will be very easy to come across..

Just a thought.

Subject: [ukha_d] Water flow sensor

I'm looking for a water flow sensor, to be able to shut off a pump if the
output pipe becomes detached (i.e. flow stops).

Pipe is 1.5", flow rate up to 120L/min (it's being used on a pond
filtering
system).

What I'm after is a simple sensor that has an output that indicates flow or
not.

Plenty of actual sensors around (but tend to be 15/22mm) and yes, I could
do
the DIY thing and pop an Arduino on the end and work from there, but
wondering if there is a quick off-the-shelf option around.

Anyone come across such an item?

Jim
