I've got the latest TomTom Go 6200 and it is brilliant. It has
Wi-Fi to get updates, so no USB and laptop required. Lovely big screen with
free, in-built SIM for free lifetime updates, speed cameras, etc. and world
maps. I much prefer a dedicated device as I can lend it to family members,
it's a much better screen and mount and I like to keep my phone
free for music and calls.<br><br>I've tried all the
smart phone apps and none have as nice an interface and as timely
directions as the TomTom devices do. Of the bunch, Waze is probably the
best app satnav but it has a horrendous privacy policy associated with it
and 10% of the time it simply routes me to the wrong place or straight into
traffic. It also needs a network connect to work, which is pretty much
useless abroad and in rural UK places.<br><br>The TomTom
devices come with a planing app and similar web site service to manage
routes, favourites, etc. It can send routse over the air to the device. I
used min

A and it worked fine but the GPRS live traffic stuff isn;t supported in the
USA. <br><br>Better still my smart home sees it connect as I
pull up onto the drive and uses this presence and occupancy data to
