I'd agree with others on Amazon Echo or Dot.

Wife loves you can just say "play songname/playlist name from
Spotify"
and off it goes! No searching, pairing, syncing etc

Sometimes it does take a few attempts to recognise the more obscure act
names but both wife and daughter enjoy interacting with it.

If you have the Spotify app, you can also choose the Echo/Dot as a
device and control the music that way if you prefer.
