Re: Heat genius ?
Hi Marcus,
Umm , same path, same place .. as I wonder quite where that box
with the panfans is now.. and also those flex sensors, although I did
evict my X10 a while back.
Yes, if I had to make a choice today I would go HG , and that's
helped by the fact I already have quite a few of the Danfoss Z-Wave
valves although they are a mix of LC12 and LC13 versions. I half use
them with a Vera currently - and they are acceptably quiet although you
can still hear them. They seem the neatest of all the Z-Wave TRV's
although the Honeywell ones are very acceptable. BTW it seems only the
UK Honeywell TRV's have the display the other/right way up.
The HG Z-Wave network has to be a separate isolated network to any
other Z-Wave network and it can't be linked in any primary/secondary
controller fashion with another system. I say 'can't' but it maybe that
HG just say that to keep their system isolated and at best performance.
Actually this whole primary/seconday controller thing is proving a
right PITA for me at the moment with my Z-Wave system. I am not sure if
other Z-Wave PIR's might be supported on the HG Z-Wave network but I
don't think there is a way to use their PIRs in a shared HA / HG mode.
I quite like the look of the HG (Philio) PIR's although I would probably
spray paint a couple to blend in with my rooms where I have some wood
panelling.
The 'API late this year' came from a conversation I had with
Alasdair at HG and was disappointing as I too had believed it was imminent.
I'm probably going to persevere with my Vera based solution and
await the next developments in HG / evoHome before adopting one or other.
I'm sure you will have found this thread Marcus ? Maybe we should
post there or get another going on the forum.
