Although I have and love the EvoHome.. their customer support/social media
outreach leaves a good bit to be desired. I made a complaint on Twitter,
was asked for contacted details via Twitter/dm. Heard nothing.. chased it
up. Heard nothing.. got an email saying it had been escalated, replied
with copious amounts of detail. Haven't heard anything since 24th Feb.
It's a simple, but annoying problem, the TRV is actually two components to
the EvoHome system, an actuator and a temp sensor. For some reason the
actuator unbound itself but the temp sensor stayed bound. This wasn't
immediately evident, e.g. I could still the temperature, set it, and lie in
freezing hope of heat but none would come. This happened around the birth
of my son so I wasn't too impressed. It's since happened to the another
TRV, though this time experience led me to fix it quite quickly, but I
shouldn't have to.
The mobile Android app is a bit finicky about having a perfect internet
connection and throws random error messages if it doesn't which is a tad
misleading to say the least.
I do however still love the system and certainly wouldn't get rid of it or
swap it for something else.. just, kinks. You know?
The private RESTish API has been cracked as well so third-party and
home-brew stuff is possible.
