Unfortunately there are two issues here. 1st is that the BBC changed their
streams to new formats (MP3 and HLS). The BBC won't be going back to what
they had before (old hardware, maintainence contracts ended etc). So you
have MP3, low quality, but readily available and HLS higher quality, but
incompatible with most players.
The 2nd issue is that Sonos haven't got it (not sure if that HLS or MP3)
working yet and aren't saying when it will be. LMS (Squeezebox) had HLS
working within a week due the community. NAIM (I believe) etc all now have
working HLS.
For a Hifi product then HLS is desirable over MP3.
A side issue is that I find both types of BBC steam very unreliable since
the change.
