Thanks for your comments.
It looks like the openreach engineer comes and installs a dual faceplate on
the NTE5 to give an RJ11 socket as well as the BT outlet. I presume the BT
outlet is internally filtered.
I can't see why I need this as my existing setup should work fine, as you
suggest.
The "multiple adaptors" are a plug into a commoned-up patch
panel, LAU from
the patch panel to give a BT socket, then BT-to-RJ11 cable into the router.
I've got a Vigor 2820 - it seems it doesn't have the required VDSL modem
capability but I don't know if that's purely hardware or can be fixed with
a firmware update.
What speed are you getting through your wan2 port Steve? I've read that
some of the older Vigors, including mine, can struggle a bit and max out at
~50 Mbps.
