Thanks for the links etc Steve :)

Still lots to think about - yes HV may still be good. Really depends what
I=
want to do in the new house as I won't have much hard wired cabling etc. I=
need to sit down and draw up a list of whaty functionality I want - essent=
ial, desirable and nice to have. Seems that after all these years, the old
=
controllers are still useful, even if HV is now obsolete. Need to try and
k=
eep elec costs down too as that's one of the reasons for down-sizing
house!=
!!

The Fibaro modules and HC2 are still high on the list though :)

I'm going to at least run Cat5e from the office (separate building over
dou=
ble garage) to living room and master bedroom. I'll need to get burial
grad=
e cat5e in ducting through a bit of garden and outside up the walls -
still=
need to think best strategy for that. Interior walls are all filled with s=
ound insulation too, so not sure how easy that will be to retro-fit. SUCH
a=
pain that developer won't allow anything at first fix!

Cat5e will be used for HDMI distribution as I already have a 4x4 HDBaseT
ma=
trix. Sky box and XBMC will probably live in the office in a suitable new
(=
although small) Node0. Need to put an extract fan in - my high flow 200mm
v=
ent axia fan just failed in my Node0 here and even with most of my servers
=
turned off (5 4U boxes!), it still gets very hot if the door is closed.
Sho=
ws what a difference even extracted hot air makes in a Node0. Would like
to=
get away from that and the associated cost. Already moved many services (e=
xchange etc) to the cloud - far cheaper too.

Cheers,

Paul.

Paul,

Just rethinking my reply to your question. The obvious suggestion I
forgot=
to mention is -

IR to HomeVision

Network connected HomeVision to Z-Wave / HC2

AKA HomeVision as your bridge. You could even have X10 remote to
HomeVisio=
n to Z-Wave etc.....

Any good?

Kind Regards,

Hi Paul,

I'm not aware of an IR to Z-Wave Bridge. However you can control the HC2
v=
ia the API with HTTP commands. It is also possible to control IR devices
d=
irectly from the Home Center 2 with your phone, tablet or web page
interfac=
e, you will need a Z-Wave to IR Bridge though (unless your equipment can
ac=
cept TCP/IP commands then its HC2 direct to your equipment via WiFi/LAN).

This thread maybe of interest to you-
http://forum.fibaro.com/index.php?/topic/11839-ir-to-z-wave-home-center-2/#=
entry4923

Also have a look at this Vesternet guide
http://www.vesternet.com/resources/application-notes/apnt-66#.VTyX_CFViko

Also if it's any interest, I'm controlling my Media Center PC directly
from=
the HC2 using the MCEController TCP/IP software that is sat on my Media Ce=
nter PC. I have also used the built-in HC2 plug-in to control my Samsung
S=
mart TV. It would be easy to append scenes to a command from the virtual
re=
mote. i.e. When movie scene played lower screen, turn projector on dim
ligh=
ts to 20% etc.

What are you trying to achieve? Can you post a scenario?

Kind Regards,

Steve,

Do you know of the HC2 can link to an IR system at all? I.e. Receive an IR
=
code via a module/gateway of some kind and then perform an action based on
=
that.

Cheers,
Paul.
