Re: Re: Best wire free alarm system with Z Wave connectivity?

Hi Noel,

I did have some dimmed motion activated lights. I'm obviously not an
expert=
with Z wave and HC2 (yet!) as I don't have that system yet. Steve's probab=
ly the guy for that. But as far as I can see having studied the docs and
ha=
d a look at Steve's system, I think we could reproduce the same
functionali=
ty pretty easily. Fibaro motion detector, dimmer module and HC2. The
motion=
detector even has built in light level sensor!

I think I'll miss the flexibility of the CBus DLT's and being able to
contr=
ol any lamp or other connected device (via Kevin's CBus to home vision
gate=
way) from any DLT button. I think the HC2 and in-switch dimmers etc will
ge=
t close enough for me though at a fraction of the cost of the CBus system.
=
Shame it's impractical to take it out and with me when I move!

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi Paul,
Out of interest which is your most used cbus functionality that you can
rep=
roduce with zwave and the hc2 controller?

I think (apologies if I have this wrong) that you were the inspiration for

my 'dimmed at night motion activated bathroom light' that I did on the
chea=
p using a mains timer, mains PIR and dimmer switch in a parallel circuit.

I've since moved house and dearly miss that functionality so wondering if
t=
here's a way to do it with a switch that goes through a logic controller
IE=
hc2 or ideally Indigo on the mac before turning on the light.

Can the MCO touch switches be used to just send a zwave signal when
pressed=
or do they have to be connected to a light/load?

Guess my thinking is I could have a zwave dimmer module on a switch that's
=
permanently on and have it controlled by a MCO touch switch and logic
withi=
n the controller or indigo.

Open to all and Any thoughts and apologies if this is a bit too much of a
h=
ijack
Cheers
Noel
Ps fantastic to see some volume of discussion on the mailing list again :)
