What IP address range is used at the office and at home? You need the two

etworks to be on different subnets for the remote VPN connection to work.

nce you have established a working connection over VPN you should be able
t=
o browse by IP address or network device name on the remote network as if

ou were actually plugged in at home on the local network (subject to the
mu=
ch slower remote ADSL upload speed).

I use the =E2=80=9Cremote dial-in user=E2=80=9D VPN server in Drayteks to
a=
llow remote access to my customers networks and provide off-site support.
I=
n my case the Win7 VPN client works just fine so I=E2=80=99ve no need to
us=
e any other VPN clients. However I don=E2=80=99t have to deal with
corporat=
e networks which may implement network/program restrictions which can
often=
make things much more of a challenge to set up successfully!

So, for example, if you successfully establish a VPN link to home from
your=
machine in the office you should be able to enter the IP address of your D=
raytek router and log in to the admin pages just as you can when at home.

Any applications/programs that use IP addresses to =E2=80=9Ctalk=E2=80=9D
t=
o the hardware should work too providing they don=E2=80=99t time out due
to=
the slower response over your VPN link.

I have some devices at home that I want to access from inside a separate

rporate network.=20
With a noip.com account I can access some of them, but some outgoing ports

are blocked (ports 80 & 8080 work, 5000 & 5001 are blocked).=20
The 5000 & 5001 ports were arbitrarily selected by me, so I could
change th=
em to other numbers but it then ends up as a trial and error exercise as

which will work, and if I move to a new employer, or client office there=
=E2=80=99s no guarantee the same ports will be open there.

So a VPN is the way to go (I think?)
I=E2=80=99ve got a Draytek 2820 router at home which supports VPN.
