RE: TV / Monitor Problem

The HDMI settings for the TV will only accept a minimum number of
resolutio=
ns and refresh rates. If you can set your PC to output a 1920x1080p60
signa=
l and if your TV has a screen-fit/pixel-map mode (to ensure there is no
ove=
rscan and therefore no unnecessary scaling of the picture received by the
T=
V) then you should find it gives a sharp picture.

Subject: [ukha_d] TV / Monitor Problem

=20

=20=20

Hi all,

=20

Here's hoping I can tap into the A/V wisdom on this list...

=20

I recently bought one of these:

http://www.tesco.com/direct/blaupunkt-24-inch-full-hd-1080p-led-tv-with-fre=
eview/413-9808.prd

for =C2=A374 clearance at my local Tesco!

=20

...with the intent of using it primarily as a PC monitor. Connected via
VGA=
it works perfectly at full HD resolution - really sharp picture, etc.

=20

However, when connected to the PC via HDMI the picture quality is quite
poo=
r. Instead of lovely sharp text it is all a bit jagged. Readable, but not
r=
ight.

The manual does say that for PC use it should be connected via VGA, but I
w=
as wondering *why* this should be so...

=20

What's better about VGA than HDMI?=20

I have a separate graphics card in the PC so have the opportunity for
custo=
m settings, if only I knew what they should be. It is a full HD panel, and
=
both the VGA and HDMI connections are set at the right resolutions.=20

=20

It's only a minor niggle but I had hoped to keep my main machine connected
=
via HDMI and have a spare VGA lead to give a 2nd monitor for my laptop
when=
working from home.=20

=20

Any thoughts why VGA should be better than HDMI for this?

=20

Many thanks,

Tim.

=20

p.s. otherwise I'm very happy with the set. Analogue and digital tuners
and=
the ability to plug in a USB stick and record to it/watch from it. Not a s=
mart TV but it was only seventy four quid, and it's plugged into a PC :-)
