Whilst Office 365 is not wedded to Internet Explorer as tightly as
Microsof=
t
tools of the past, I think you=B9ll be pushing you luck trying to go for an
out-and-out thin client. You need good HTML 5 and Javascript support.

I=B9d choose cheap Windows PC=B9s or pay more and buy Macs and be done
with=
it.
You don=B9t need servers. I think you=B9ll be making a rod for your own
bac=
k
trying to go any other way, to be honest.

Cheers,
Steve

Subject: [ukha_d] Small Office Setup - No Servers, Browser Based - Not HA
sorry!

=20

Hi all,=20

We have an interesting challenge at work that I think someone on here may
b=
e
able to assist me with! Sorry for the lack of HA within this!

We have a new office of around 20 people that will be accessing
application=
s
exclusively online. This will comprise Office 365 suite products and 2
applications both provisioned over citrix from different providers.

For various reasons we're seeking the lightest support overhead possible
with zero servers if at all possible.

My idea is to get a browser based thin client (with a browser that can be
updated) that has a home page of the Office 365 portal login page for the
organisation. This would open a sharepoint online page with shortcuts to
the two applications (both have their own authentication).

We have no need of 'operating systems' and are happy with the cloud
application approach.

Questions:

1 - What device do I use for the desktop clients? Something robust along
the lines of a Wyse thin client i'm thinking.

2 - How do I manage printers? probably around 6 that would need to be
network connected.

Suggestions and ideas greatly appreciated!

Thanks all

Noel
