Re: RE: Wireless Access Points?

Tracey,

We have a house where the wireless signal is poor in several spots. I have
two extenders that cover the entire house. One is the kind that Ian
recommends, and I would also recommend that as a cheap way to get good
coverage.

The other part to my solution was a unifi extender (the ones that look like
smoke alarms). These are a lot more expensive, and IMO it was a pain to set
up, as I needed to install management software on a pc, and add the device
etc, etc, but once set up it runs without any management.

It was dead easy to set up as an extension of my existing wireless network,
so users arent aware they are switching as they move through the house. I
fought with the cheaper one to get it to do the same, but in the end I just
gave up, and gave it a different wireless id, so you have to select it
manually each time.

If you have the funds I would recommend the unifi, as it will be a good
perminant, reliable and transparent solution to your problem

Regards

Simon
