Mark,

I intend to use two magnetic switches so I can tell if the door is opened
or closed (of course I can't tell if its stopped in the middle, but that's
not really an issue), and I plan to add beam sensors to check if the door
is obstructed - so when it begins to close, if it becomes obstructed it
will automatically reverse.

I know I could use the obstruction detection in the door controller, but I
want the input via software so I can do other stuff, including a small LED
in front of the car to let you know when the car is far enough in. So many
possibilities :)
