I'm getting close to fixing this with a hammer...

I have a new NAS and the drive mapping half-works - I enter username and
password and the share pops up. Everything is fine, files served up ok etc.
However, when I reboot my PC it does not remember the password and I have
to re-enter it.

I have entered the NAS username and password onto the relevent page in the
drive map dialog box and ticked the reconnect at logon box.

Google says to add/verify the credentials via
"control...userpasswords2" at
the command prompt, but there is no "add" button, just
"properties" and
"remove".
In any event the credentials do not appear there.

Other tips say to use the "net use" command with
"persistent" but again
this does not save the password.
Regedit reveals the correct drive letter, path and user ids but there are
no entries for passwords.

I've tried on 2 PCs, OSs are XP home & XP media centre, the NAS is a
QNAP
TS-420.
The windows user account has a password and is set to auto log-in.

The NAS streams to a PS3 no problem, and no requests for passwords, it's
just file access to PCs that's problematic. Sharing folders between various
PCs (i.e. PC to PC) works fine and no passwords are required after reboots.

Can anyone spot what I've missed, or am doing wrong?

Thanks,
Tim.
