<p>I hedged by building a machine based on the i5-3570K with 8G of
RAM (+ 2 spare RAM slots) and SSD about 6 months ago, just at the end of
mainstream Ivy bridge cycle - got a good deal on the CPU - and when the
figures came out showing marginal performance gain on the next gen, it
seemed reasonable.&nbsp; So I&#39;ll run XP into the ground over
the next year or so while I decide what to do. That might involve
virtualising my XP museum &quot;just in case&quot; and running
Linux as native OS.<br></p><p style="color:rgb(0, 0,
0);font-size:13px;font-family:arial, helvetica, clean,
sans-serif;background-color:transparent;font-style:normal;"><br></p><p
style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-size:13px;font-family:arial, helvetica,
clean,
sans-serif;background-color:transparent;font-style:normal;">The
3570K is of course super-quick (transcoding speed is approx proportional to
CPU benchmark), and I use the unavailable-to-windows 4G as a RAM disk f
or the page file using Dataram ramdisk - work
s perfectly. </p>
