I with you Mark on this. Standard tyres on snow are cr*p on anything
approaching a slight incline, and it's hilly where I live :-/
All the weight is at the front so there's nothing to hold down the rear
wheels, as evidenced by me struggling to reverse out of a steep gravel
drive not so long ago.

Just checked prices and winter tyres for my 5 series are over =A3200 each.

I
do "get" that the benefits of winter tyres aren't *just* for
snow, but =A38=
00
is a lot to find. Even if I did find =A3800-odd for new tyres this year,
I'=
ve
still got to store one set of tyres all through year and they're not small!
I got some quick-fit chains last winter and predictably, haven't needed to
use them yet.

I can live with working from home for a week or so each year :-)
