Power supply help

For a heating controller project which has a touch screen I need a 12v
and
5v power supply - 12v for the screen and 5v for the RPi.

I was hoping to use a 12 PSU with a DC-DC converter to convert the 12v to
5v.

Can anyone tell me if an Electronic LED driver would be a suitable choice
for the PSU? (such as this one : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290883688146)

They are really very cheap, and if it did the job it would be fantastic.

Any help appreciated

Regards

Simon
