The other option I had is the plug in light modules but not found anything
that is UK Zwave compatible. All my ZWave stuff was bought in the UK years
ago. Also difficult finding someone who will ship it overseas to this
location due to customs issues it seems.

Mmm.. so where does the mains wire run.. surface mounted or is it just
embedded in the "thin rendering".

Could you not just make a wooden step off ring so the ceiling rose actually
sat further away from the ceiling and hence gave more room ?
Another option might be IKEA style fittings that have the "flower
pot" that
pushes up the wire pendant flex and simply covers the bare wires coming
from
the ceiling. These are very deep so plenty of room to hide modules I would
think.
