Hello Tim

It's what they call "ring trip", damp/water ingress is the usual
problem,
causing insulation to break down when the higher voltage ringing current is
applied to the line, tripping the ringing, then returning to normal.
I had the same proble here some years ago and changing the offending
faceplate cured the problem.
