yes, ETS is still needed, but for small installs the demo version should
be fine.

KNX/TP (KNX over twisted pair) is what post people associate with KNX.
However KNX/RF is possible, and KNX over powerline is also available.
Most devices are available for KNX/TP

Control of AV equipement is possible, for example using KNX-2-RS232 gates.
