I'm liking the look of the 796B a little more... - it has exactly

recording rate, which I think will be quite valuable as the number of
cameras goes up... - especially if you have, - as I do - a preference to
always use the highest quality recording settings... - 50 IPS at the
highes=

res is already quite low... - I believe the total recording rate is that
which is available across all connected channels... - so with 2 cameras
recording, that's 25 IPS / camera.... go to 4 cameras recording and that
halves to just 12.5 IPS / camera - already that's going to start looking a
bit jerky... if you go the full hog and have all 8 cameras recording
concurrently at the top resolution, there's only 6 IPS available per
camera...

I assume how this works out in practice is somewhat dependent on how many
cameras you will have recording concurrently, which in turn is dependent on
your choice of settings?... - I plan to use motion activated in all cases,
so I'd expect (hope!) that even with 8 cameras connected I'd never be
actively recording more than a couple at once... worst case scenario

By dropping the pre-fitted HDD size option, this unit is hardly any dearer
than the 677/1TB option - =A3300 jumps to =A3330, and also features a pre

optical drive. Other than that, these two seem much the same in most other
regards, and since I have a cupboard full of 1TB hard drives... :-)

I'm going through the same process just now, although I need cameras as
well. I quite like the "677" from www.henrys.co.uk - 8 channel,

resolution, or ease
of use of remote interface is, I don't yet know.

Some of the resolution would be down the the spec of the cameras though,
