RE: [ukha_d] UK WiFi Thermostats . and Siri...

I am waiting for the hack to arrive on Android!!

One question I have in regards to this whole system.

Doesn't Siri use a server to do the processing? What if you internet
connection is down? I assume it won't work so well.

Is a nice idea though but being limited to iPhone is a bit off putting for
me as I am not a fan of Apple.

I am learning Android and doing a home automation interface just now and I
was thinking of adding voice capability to it. The other idea is to have a
tablet wall mounted to which I could simply press a button and speak to it.

Lots of nice opportunities here I think for some cool ways to control your
home. I already love the fact that I can do searches on my Android phone
just by speaking to it. Looking up movies on IMDB just became more fun!

Dave.

Subject: [ukha_d] UK WiFi Thermostats . and Siri...

Hi All,

Following on from Marks post the other day (on twitter?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AN6wy0keQqo

This chap is using Siri on the 4S to adjust a WiFi thermostat. Is anyone
using a WiFi thermostat in the UK? and whats your mileage with it? A quick
Google brings up a HeatMiser and thats about it!

Looking at this concept further, is Siri the Home Automation Voice
interface
everyone has been hoping for? If its as simple to intercept as it
appears...?

Wayne.
