We've had a Harveys mechanical twin chamber one for about 6 years - no
problems at all. We've never had it serviced - I don't think there's
anything much to service though the salt man said they can get caked in
salt over time, stopping the blocks







sliding down properly. Perhaps the metering mechanism will wear out
eventually.

Note our plumber installed ours for us - I had bought a "high
flow" kit but he didn't like the flexible pipes/circlips which he
doesn't trust for mains pressure water. Instead he did the last section
between the (copper) bypass pipes with two short lengths of 22mm plastic
pipe (Hep2O or whatever) and a couple of plastic elbows.
