RE: Solar PV ?

Hi Peer,

Yes the UK Fits scheme does seem like a very big bribe to get people to
put=
up solar panels.

43p for every KWh we produce regardless of if we use it or not

3p for every Kwh we export back to the grid

All prices are index linked to inflation and so those figures increase
year=
on year for the next 25years

So for every Kwh produced you earn a minimum of 43p + 3p =3D 46p if
exporte=
d, and even more if you use it yourself since its 43p plus the saving on
no=
t having to buy the KWh from the grid (12p)

Also this price is going to drop year on year for new installs after April
=
2012, although the price is fixed at that years rate once you actually
inst=
all.

The snag with plastering your rood with as many panels as possible is 1)
yo=
u cant self fit the panels, they have to be fitted by an
"approved" contrac=
tor so the costs go up, and 2) the 43p is only up to 4KWh (and on
retrofit,=
new builds are slightly less). If you install more than 4KWh then the pric=
e drops to around 38p per KWh (for the whole array!). For arrays greater
th=
an 10KWh the price drops again.

As to panel prices I suspect your correct, I know a couple of the quotes
I'=
ve had, mentioned that the panels are bought direct from Germany !

Regards

Marcus

Hello Marcus,

> Thanks for the link :)

You are welcome. I found it by chance, and it helped me and some other
people a lot.

Great. It is always good to get the confirmation.

It was about PV itself. Some people are coming into it with wrong
estimates, but..

> 3.99Kw =3D yearly total 2430KWh =3D 2430x0.43 =3D =A31044.9 a year

... this figure is quite interesting. In Germany we are only getting
around 23-24 EURct per kWh for sending the energy into the grid, and
8ct, if we use it ourselves. I'd say, UK be happy for what YOU are
getting :) With that amount it makes sense to plaster the roof with how
ever many panels you can get. I wonder if prices for PV panels in the UK
are much more than for the PV panels in Germland.
