RE: Automating immersion heater from Solar Voltaic ?

..after posting did a bit of googling and found like you said the 2kW is
"only" about 8amps... just sounds a lot more to an ignoramus like
me.

For all those of us that didn't do Physics at school (I did biology/general
science) ;

Amps = 1000 x kW / voltage

i.e. 8amp = 1000 x 2Kw / 240volts

2kW is approximately 8 amps at mains voltage.
There are plenty of relays around that will handle 16amps or even 30amps
For example a quick Google brought up this site.
