How about a pair of those cheap two way radios? Each of you carries
one
at all times and they work over long enough distances for you to radio
the kitchen for a cuppa when you are in the garage/garden/outside loo

Hi Erik,

Just a quick reply but would these suit?
http://www.wireless-intercom.co.uk/2%20way%20wireless%20intercom%20wire%
20free.htm

There seems to be a 4-unit kit - it's not clear whether it can be
further
expanded by just adding more units.

Alternatively, I think the Comfort alarm system has an intercom facility
via
keypads, and if you have / are planning a home VoIP system you could
probably do it via that too i.e. ring all phones on a combination of key
presses.

HTH,

Tim.
p.s. I've no connection with the seller/mnfr. of the kits in the link
:-)
