RE: X10 LD11 Incandescent bulbs phased out.. Halogen Bayonet bulbs OK?

No but I have used them to dim 150w liner halogens without problems
for
2yrs, The dimmer will so no difference to these apart from a slightly
higher
peek at start-up than standard incandescent as they run hotter they have a
slightly lower off resistance, but it's so small a time the dimmer isn't
bothered but it, nearly all the lighting we use in theatre is halogen and
or
though the dimmer architecture is slightly different the principal is
basically the same (more son on cheaper theatre dimmers)

Many thanks,

Stuart Billinghurst

Subject: [ukha_d] X10 LD11 Incandescent bulbs phased out.. Halogen Bayonet
bulbs OK?

Hi All,

I've previously mentioned I'm re-wiring a 1960's semi. Costs of LD11's
versus CBUS seem to have me firmly on the X10 bandwagon.

With that aside, I'm looking to try and future proof my installation (ha!).
With the advent of incandescent bulbs being phased out, is a viable
alternative just to replace incandescent bulbs with halogen equivalents?

I'm talking about bulbs like these:
http://www.qvsdirect.com/Dimmable-Halogen-GLS-240v-60W-BC-Bayonet-Cap-Lamp-P
earl-pr-23300.html

Though I see even halogens are being targeted for extermination by 2016:

2016 is far enough off for me not to be worried right now.

So.. has anyone tried using an LD11 to dim a halogen bayonet bulb?

Thanks,

Steve
