The problem I've found with a lot of the prolific chipsets around is
that they're chinese knockoffs that don't work properly. The ones I've
found that have actual genuine chipsets have all been okay so far (one
way to tell is sometimes to use them on win7 64bit with the official
drivers - if they don't work then they're fakes).

That said, I've not tried any of the 4 port ones yet.
