RE: [OT] iPad query...

Hi Phil,

This would actually be very easy to put together and design a simple PCB
for
this and find a small box for it to go in but the issue is the connectors
used on the iPad.

Not having an iPad myself, could you tell me what the connectors actually
are? I assume mini types or is this normal Apple with a non-standard
format?

Cheers,
Dave.

Subject: [ukha_d] [OT] iPad query...

Given that Apple in all its radiant glory have seen fit to bestow the
wonderful iPad with the ability to suck juice when charging at a rate
higher
than any "standard" USB port can supply (and yet seem to have
managed to
make their non-standard requirement not look bad on themselves) then I end
up with the following conundrum.

1) If I plug my iPad into my Windows PC to sync it I can't charge it.
2) If I plug my iPad into my beloved Naim DAC to use Spotify or play music
from its iTunes library I can't charge it.
3) If I plug the PSU into my iPad to charge it I can't sync it.

Has anyone seen an iPad dock that allows USB data to be passed through (for
syncing) at the same time as allowing the PSU to be connected for charging?

Seems such a massive need but I can't find such a thing. :-(

Phil
