RE: Why do I want an iPad ?

If you have the time, then HSTouch on the iPad has a lot of potential.
I've only tinkered with it so far, but the extra screen estate will be
very useful. I'm working under the assumption that when iPad2 comes out,
my existing iPad will get mounted into a wall somewhere as a full-time HA
controller. I'm sure there's other iPad HA apps, but Homeseer is mostly
what I use, and I like the idea of being able to build my own HA screens,
though I doubt I'll ever actually find the time to do it justice.

I've spoken to a lot of my mates in the UK who are very dismissive of the
iPad, despite not having touched or used it. I've had both versions, and
would certainly recommend the 3G version, but I think the tariffs over here
are a little better than what is being offered in the UK ($30 for
unlimited). I use it mostly at the gym to watch movies or TV, at home to
surf and take care of emails, and at the office to manage the house via
HSTouch and Livecams (connected to Panasonic network cameras, there's a lot
of work being done at the house, so they're handy to keep an eye on the
contractors).

I'm not an apple fan, but it does do what it does very well.

It's an open question

Why do I want an iPad ? Should I be queuing up on Friday morning ? Is
there any HA benefit also ?
