It's been a few years since I spent too much money on ukha-d bulk
buys, but this hint was too tempting to miss. I just bought the stock
3600 without any memory upgrade, and since I'm not that familiar with
Ubuntu used the instructions at
http://www.interworks.com/blogs/rboyles/2010/01/31/hd-playback-xbmc-acer-as=
pire-revo
to get XBNC live running (and the instructions at
http://morningbeat.blogspot.com/2010/01/xbmc-911-on-acer-aspire-revo.html
to get wireless running), and in less than an hour had it serving
video from my samba shares.

It's pretty nippy, has played all content (including 1080p stuff)
without a hitch; the only time the video is a little jumpy is if you
have it playing in the background whilst you go through other menus.
Surprisingly it had no problem playing non-HD, and DVD ISO's remotely
over wifi too. The only thing I need to add is a IR receiver/remote.
Looks like the price jumped back a bit to =C2=A3150, so maybe worth the
extra 40 quid for the 3610 for the next one we get.

Thanks, Mark
