[OT] Vista Wifi wierdness

  • Subject: [OT] Vista Wifi wierdness

Hi All,

got a strange problem with a Vista Laptop, it wont automatically connect to
the network I want it to.

My router is a BT Homehub and because Im also a member of the FON network
it
also broadcasts an SSID as "BT Openzone" in addition to "BT
Homehub xxxx"

Both networks are detected and despite setting BT Homehub to the top of the
list with automatic connection, and BT Openzone to the bottom of the list
as
manual connection this particular laptop keeps on connecting to the BT
Openzone part of the router.

After much messing about it will connect to the Homehub and will do so
several times before reverting back to connecting to Openzone. The settings
still show openzone as manual and homehub as auto but it refuses to work
reliably.

Sometimes it WILL connect to Homehub but then fails to get an IP address
via
DHCP ending up with a 169..... ip address.

All the other laptops I have used on this router work perfectly but then
they are running XP Pro and XP Home rather than the Vista virus.

Any ideas ????

Any help gratefully received,

Thanks

Keith
