How to split a bog-standard analogue stereo signal without distortion

  • Subject: How to split a bog-standard analogue stereo signal without distortion

Here's the thing - I need to split an analogue stereo audio signal
(usual
phono connectors) into 2 stereo feeds.

I've put a el cheap 50p phono splitter in place, but I'm getting
distortion. I presume there's some sort of termination required ? I have a
stereo signal source, and I want to send to 2 x amps.

Can anyone recommend anything ? Passive would be nice but perhaps I need a
powered solution ?

tia
