Re: OT: USB 3G modems



Thanks all for the suggestions.
Tim - The PC will be on continuously so it's the 3G/GSM modem that would be
off, though I didn't describe it that well.   A marginal power saving by
not
running the radio all the time.  On the data cost side, the PC will be
running a cut down linux so I can put some effort into making sure it's not
doing anything we don't want it to.

Have already got a box running which initiates a tunnel back
"home" when
instructed on it's console, including going through many NAT &
firewalls,
but that always previously required to be near a broadband/phone line...

I think its time for me to splash out for a pay-as-you-go 3g :-)
