[OT] PBX in a Flash - choppy sound in a VM ?

  • Subject: [OT] PBX in a Flash - choppy sound in a VM ?

I know some people on the list have used PIAF, has anyone used it in
VMWare ?

I have just setup a VM (VMware ACE edition) using the VM ISO downloaded off
the PiaF website.

I have installed it as a single core x64bit version running on a dual core
AMDx64 host, and although it seems to all work the sound quality of the
server generated voice i.e "Extension is unavailable.. etc" is
very choppy.

Te PiaF website says that this is a known issue when running in a VM and
that I need to install a special tuned version of the kernel. I have done
this but when I reboot the VM and select the new kernel it fails to boot,
it hangs just after the line that says something about checking the generic
scroll wheel mouse. If I reboot and select the original kernel it boots
fine but I get the choppy sound.

Has anyone been through this and know of a solution .. or at least how I
find out why its hanging ?

TIA

Marcus
