Hi Ian

Have been her 32 years and when i first saw an Aussie plug i though 10 amps
would make it melt ....But i can honestly say that i have only seen about 3
or 4 plug tops melt due to overloading...therefore my opinion on UK plugs
is
that they are way way over engineered...and as for having fuses in plug
tops...when i was a kid and a fuse blew it was standard practice to use the
silver foil (wrapped around the old fuse) out of cigerette packets .....

Funny though having served my time in the UK  up until about two year ago i
still turned the Oz plugtop around (earth pin on top) when fitting them off
to ensure i had the live (active) on the correct side..;-)...

Nothing wrong with Oz plugtops... ;-)
